How to Be Disciplined

The Shredded FX Trader

What does it actually mean to be disciplined? Discipline is a concept that many people are aware of, but few truly understand. To be successful you need to be able to be exceptionally disciplined. The winners and champions in life are the most disciplined people I or you will ever know. The dedication they have shown through there disciplined behavior. Being disciplined is vital to every living being and without it, the world around us would be chaos.

Life has this way of throwing you under the bus when you least expect it, but do you take these actions as lessons in life or do you take them as failures? To be a great and inspiring leader, you must constantly display restraint. Not giving into something you truly want is a sign of strength. It doesn’t matter if it resisting those donuts when you are dieting or going out clubbing when you should be studying. Making the right decisions in life can make or break you. Regardless of where you exert this self-restraint, it will help to promote achievement in your life and push you forward to success in your endeavors.

When you become disciplined, you will have more stability in your life, more structure in your daily routine and people will, in turn, end up respecting you for being the responsible person you would have become. Can you identify the number of times you were not disciplined and things went to rat shit and on the flip side when you were disciplined everything just seemed to fall into perfect place.

To have the self-restraint and discipline is not an easy thing to master. Especially in today’s world, with endless amounts of naughty and bad shit to tempt you into the wrong hands. If you have the ability to control this your life will be a free flow of positive results. A lack of this ability can have disastrous results. Would your boss tolerate if you were consistently late? Always goofing around and not getting your work done or hitting targets? I think he/she would fire your punk ass.

“Mental toughness” is frequently used colloquially to refer to any set of positive attributes that helps a person to cope with difficult situations. Coaches and sports commentators freely use the term mental toughness to describe the mental state of athletes who persevere through difficult sports circumstances to succeed. Its main qualities are sacrifice and self-denial. Also, most importantly, it is combined with a perfectly disciplined will that refuses to give in.

Discipline helps to train a person’s mind and character, building a sense of self-control and the practice of obedience. Once you learn to master this, your daily life goals will just seem so much easier to achieve.

One could call a self-discipline a form of freedom. Freedom from laziness and lethargy, freedom from the expectations and demands of others, freedom from weakness and fear — and doubt. Self-discipline allows a person to feel his individuality, his inner strength, his talent.

There are four types of discipline:

Sentinels (_S_J types)
The idea of self-discipline that Sentinels embrace is also the one most people think of when they hear the phrase. It’s an attention to detail. They admire tasks done correctly and “by the book”

Diplomats (_NF_ types)
Diplomats, on the hand, see their ideal self-discipline almost in opposite terms. For them, the Sentinels’ definition may feel like a trap. The important “stuff” of the universe is not in the tiny details. Self-discipline is about separating themselves from the minutiae in favor of diving into the bigger picture.

Nalysts (_NT_ types)
For Analysts, a detail must carry some significance to receive much notice. Their focus on solving puzzles and taking apart and putting things back together supersedes anything else. That is their self-discipline.

Explorers (_S_P types)
Explorers may keep their desks neat if there’s nothing else going on and they feel it’s useful that way. They won’t do it simply because they feel it’s a standard set by someone else. Explorers may disregard the rules and even other people to accomplish their goals. They sometimes come across as “loose cannons”.

Too many people are susceptible to instant gratification. People lacking control are unable to look at the long-term effects of their actions. This tells us exactly why controlling this skill is crucial in your toolbox of skills. It is probably the most crucial factor when trying to achieve a goal. It allows you to choose from different options and by following these options you can garner the success you sought out for. By controlling yourself you take control of your destiny to reach and achieve your goals.

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and success.” If you put your mind to it you can unequivocally develop or strengthen this skill at any time in your life.

Remember thoughts become things and if you push yourself harder to make better choices, that your effort and hard work will align with your positive actions you will dominate every area of your life. Resist the urge to give into negative behaviors, instead focus on all of the positive attributes you have right in front of you.
